Psycho Baby steal the show to win the competition!

Psycho Baby

The show helped raise £1000 towards the Charlie Derrick Music Bursary; a Fund which helps musicians work towards their aims in music, whatever they may be.

Musicians who receive Bursaries are invited to in the future do gigs to help raise money to keep the fund going for other musicians and so build a self help community run by musicians for musicians.

"It’s a simple idea but the best possible form of social networking site there can be" says founder Jules Derrick

If musicians out there would like to join the network they simply have to let us know by sending an email to ryan@footprint.org.uk. Just give Ryan your details and we will publicise your event on the site.

Bursary applications can also be made online but you have to tell us how you intend to give something back to the community.

What people said about the event

Your Next Step:

"Such an amazing event, Your Next Step were very proud to play alongside such prodigal and immense talent, here's to next year!"

Matthew Reynolds:

"I really enjoyed performing at Footprint, it was a great night in a great venue, and even if I didn't win anything it would have been an honour playing with so many great bands and solo acts, not to mention an audience that actually came for original music which is a rare pleasure these days"

Rayden:

"Rayden were happy and proud to play at the first Footprint competition and to help raise some money for the Charlie Derrick Bursarie. It was a great night with excellent local musicians and hopefully created some awareness of the talent that is out there playing the gig circuit. Winning 2nd prize was the icing on the cake"

Tom Conibear:

"FOOTPRINT was one of the best experiences I've ever had as a musician. The opportunity to play on a large stage, with great sound and lights in front of various members of the local press is rare. The compere was as funny as that unidentified mouldy stuff you find at the back of your fridge (you just couldn't help but laugh) and the audience were warm, friendly and there to watch and listen to every note. Bring on next year!"

Psycho Baby:

"Really enjoyed playing @The Playhouse, what a great place, and shamefully it's somewhere i hadn't ever visited for the whole13 years that i have lived in Weston. We all had a good time and thanx/well done to all who put it all on. Hope good money was raised"

Jethro Wilkinson:

"I thought the night went really well, Patrick was hilarious! The standard of music was really good as well, it really built up my confidence and I'm now going to start turning up to a few open mic nights I think"
